Kent's 11+ Test (GL) consists of 4 topics and these are Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
As Kent 11+ Tutors we can guide your child through these different types of questions and skills needed.
The Maths section covers a variety of topics and requires children to answer questions on arithmetic as well as problem solving.
The Kent 11+ test expects students to have a far deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Most of these topics are not covered by the primary curriculum, but Helen, an experience Kent 11+ Tutor, will teach your child this curriculum and strategies required to successfully solve the problem-based questions.
The English test covers comprehension, spelling and grammar as well as testing literacy skills.
Children will also be required to complete a writing task. The writing task will only be marked at an appeals process.
Heather, an experienced Kent 11+ tutor, will teach your child the skills needed to navigate their way through this exam as well as ensuring that they have the skills to complete the writing element to a high standard.
The Kent 11 Plus Test includes a Reasoning section which consists of both English and Mathematical reasoning. The English component examines a child's ability to apply alphabetical logic, manipulate word structures and to understand the various meaning of words. These skills are used to solve a variety of logic-based questions.
The mathematical component explores logic and code as well as sequences and letter coded (code breaking) sums.
This part of the test can be immensely enjoyable when children understand the logic and processes required to successful answer the questions. This subject is taught by both Heather and Helen.
The Kent 11+ Non-Verbal Reasoning test consists of various sub-sections that test a child’s ability to apply logic and reasoning to a variety of problems presented in picture form. The test has different sections, including spatial reasoning, which involves visual manipulation of 3D shapes, folding, connecting shapes and hidden shapes. There is also a section devoted to spotting pattens, hidden codes, sequencing of shapes, rotation, refection, layering, ordering and positions.
This topic is taught by Helen, who will help your child develop skills to identify the different techniques required to solve these logic based problems.
